So in December of this year I’ll be turning twenty, which will officially bring my teenage years to an end. In my 20s, I’m most likely going to get to work after I receive my bachelors in sociology in order to earn some job experience before I head off to graduate school. What graduate program I’ll decide to join I’m unsure of at this point in time but I hope whatever it is, it makes me happy. The most important thing to me however, is starting a family. Definitely not in my early twenties but I’d like to start one before I reach thirty. Not that thirty is old or anything, but I want to live to see my children grow into something amazing. It’s tough to say exactly what I’d like to happen in my twenties because I honestly don’t have a clue as to where I’m headed. All I can say is that I hope that in about five to ten years, I’m living a life that I can be proud of. The future always seems so unclear and all I know is that I’m going to work my hardest to make myself into something and to create a comfortable living for me and my family.
The player’s association and NFL owners have been unable to come to terms as far as salaries go and because of this, there will be no NFL for the 2011-2012 season. When you think about how much money is put into and gained because of the NFL it’s scary to think of what the lockout will mean for the economy. Television stations will lose money from increased ratings, satellite companies will lose money from the lack of the NFL packages, food vendors will lose money from the lack of sales to stadiums and what seems to be the worst is the cities where NFL stadiums are located losing a large amount of money from the stadiums being used during the season. It’s going to be tough for businesses and corporations to bounce back from a hit like this especially after the hit the economy just took. We’re already in what many refer to as a “recession” and with the NFL lockout, who knows what the future holds for the United States. The only thing that can really be done now is hope that other sports can take the place of the NFL for the time being. Sports such as soccer may be able to make up for a portion of the losses taken.
Well being that downloading music is illegal and even if you do do it USF will block your internet usage on campus, I’ve found a site that allows you to convert youtube videos to mp3 files. The website is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vIBI_44oHg and it makes it way easier to get the music I want when it comes out instead of having to wait until I go home or buying it off of itunes. Well, that’s all I’ve got. Hope it helps!
Spring break was awesome. It’s most likely there so students can get away from the stress of school and simply relax. I know that’s what I did all break. I lay out by the pool, went to the beach with my friends and even got some basketball in. It’s nice to take a breather from school and it was even nicer to get a tan and have some fun in the process. Along with going to the pool and having fun I got to see my parents, my friends and family, and my two dogs back home. I really wish I was able to go to Rapids Water Park though because I always have a great time there. Overall though, I can’t complain about my spring break. It’s said that Fort Lauderdale is a famous spring break location made popular by George Warren Gill Jr. and what’s great about this is I live about twenty minutes from Ft. Lauderdale. Before it became a big party area, Ft. Lauderdale was simply used for people up north to get a break from the snow and the cold. Residents in the area became so upset that they petitioned for the Florida government to rise the legal drinking age to 21 so people would go out of the country. Either way, Spring Break was a nice relief from school and mine was great.
As students and professors can see, college is slowly being taken over by the internet. The article says that sooner or later, students won’t even have to go to the campus to get a college degree. This isn’t too unbelievable especially since a majority of my friends already have two or three of their five classes online. There are also a growing number of websites that offer a college education at a much lower price than the colleges themselves. Tuition is usually somewhere in the thousands while websites are offering college courses for $99 per month. Colleges and universities are being given a run for their money by the internet it seems.
A viral video is a video that becomes popular due to people sharing it over the internet. Viral videos usually contain comedic content and are sometimes from a skit performed on television show such as Mad TV or Saturday Night Live. On the other hand, viral videos can also be something simple made by some random person. Low budgets and interesting settings can make for a very entertaining video and are often times some of the most popular videos on the internet. What makes a video go viral is basically how interesting or laugh worthy it is. If a video makes somebody laugh, more often then not that person will share it with a friend or peer. Social networking sites, such as the one we’re on right now, along with file sharing sites such as youtube, have contributed to the recent explosion in popularity of viral videos. With so many different ways to share something with one’s peers or friends, there’s no doubt that these sites have upped the popularity of videos that make it to the internet. Viral videos gives usual people an unusual amount of fame. Everybody has a chance at getting their “15 minutes of fame” if they’re simply able to make others laugh. While it’s not the easiest thing in the world to do, it’s much easier then becoming an amazing singer or playing sports really well. All one needs to get their brief amount of fame, is a creative idea and somebody crazy enough to do it.
